The deadly IED strike in Bal Luchistan: 5 paramilitary personnel killed, and that's what we know | World News

Security sources said at least five paramilitary soldiers killed six people in a deadly roadside bomb attack on Tuesday, six of whom were injured. The attack took place in the Kachi area at 11:45 a.m. local time when a temporary movement of border troops was hit by IED. Officials cited by the news agency IANS confirmed that one of the six vehicles in the convoy was attacked by an explosion, resulting in serious casualties.

Security forces quickly blocked the area and started a search operation to arrest the attackers. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, and many reportedly were crucial.

No organization has claimed responsibility for the bombing. However, security officials noted that the Bal Lu Chin-Chasing PLA-Zad (BLA-A) factions and other small armed groups were actively operating in the area.

The attack comes after a major incident last week when the Fateh squad of the Bal Road Branch People's Liberation Army (BLA) rushed into the Mongochar area of Bal Road Branch. During that attack, militants blocked the Quetta-Karachi Expressway, burned down several government buildings including Nadella, the National Bank of Pakistan and the Judicial Complex, and briefly seized control of the local market areas. The BLA then claimed that the action was part of their ongoing “liberation struggle.”

Bal Luzhi Province has witnessed a surge in violence in recent months, with separatist groups intensifying attacks on state institutions and security forces, citing long-standing dissatisfaction with political marginalization and resource exploitation.

So far, no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, security officials say the Bal Lu Chin-Zad (BLA-A) faction and some other small groups are actively working in the area.

The attack was in a massive attack last week when the BLA's Fateh squad occupied the Mongochar area of Bal Luchistan Province in the Kalat region. In that attack, militants destroyed the Quetta-Karachi expressway, burned several government complexes, including Nadella, National Bank of Pakistan, and a judicial complex, and temporarily controlled the area around the local market. The BLA continues to operate to extend their “liberation struggle.”

Violence in Bal Luzhi Province has escalated over the past few months, and the separatist movement has strengthened attacks on state institutions and security forces, complaining about political exclusion and historical dissatisfaction with resources.
