Even though weekends and Mondays may fall on Eid and Eid on Mondays, the national income tax department will remain open.
“To promote the work of the pending sector, all income tax offices across India should be open on March 29, 30 and 31, 2025,” the Central Direct Taxation Commission (CBDT) said in the order.
March 31, 2025 is the last day of the current fiscal year, and all government payments and settlements related to finance must be completed on the same day.
March 31 is also the last date for filing updates to ITR for AY 2023-24.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a similar directive to deal with government operations on March 31 to facilitate taxpayers. The Reserve Bank of India has said that in order to promote accounting for government revenue and payments for the current fiscal year, the necessary arrangements have also been made to conduct special clearing operations nationwide.
