A wild Tusker died in Sullakki, Sakleshpur Taluk, on Saturday morning. Residents of the village found the body and informed the forest department. The officer arrived at the scene and later that day, the veterinarian performed an autopsy.
Hassan Forest Deputy Protection Program Sourabh Kumar told Hindu Pachyderm is suspected to have died of electricity. It comes into contact with the live line. “We will investigate the death and book the case. The electrical inspector will also prepare reports about the incident,” he said.
Many areas in Hassan are facing human elephant conflicts. People died in an elephant attack and the forest department is conducting an operation to capture the elephants that cause trouble.
