Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi said on Sunday that Taggarwal has historically been the cultural capital of southern India but lamented its gradual decline in prominence due to the dominance of the political narrative of Madras (now Chennai).
Speaking on the expression function of the Salangai Nadham Cultural Festival organized by the Southern Regional Cultural Center in Thanjavur, he criticized the influence of post-independence Western political ideology, claiming that they have led to disagreements among people based on religion, language, caste, caste, culture and food.
