BJP members’ comments on Gandhi

The meeting of the Kozhikode Corporation Council held on Wednesday witnessed an incredible scene when members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) derogatory remarks against Mahatma Gandhi.
This also led to Mayor Beana Philip sending a formal warning to CS Sathyabhama, a member representing Athanikkal Ward. Ms. Sathyabhama allegedly made remarks in a discussion of an urgent submission by MP Mc Sudhamani, condemning the terrorist attacks on tourists by Jamu and Pahalgam in Kashmir.
Ms. Sudhamani claimed that the attack was the result of the failure of the coalition government and demanded strict measures against terrorists. She claimed that even five years after the special status of Jamu and Kashmir was abolished, the Centre could not eliminate terrorism from there.
However, BJP member T. Raneesh opposed the reference submitted to the coalition government in the submission and asked for it to be deleted. Members of the United Democratic Front (UDF) and Left Democratic Front (LDF) said Raneesh’s needs were unacceptable. This prompted other BJP members to express their support for Mr Raneesh, which followed by debate and objections between the two sides. Ms. Satibama reportedly made derogatory remarks during close combat.
Subsequently, Deputy Mayor CP Musafar Ahamed and LDF and UDF members sought action against her. Ms. Philip then warned Ms. Satibama. Later, the meeting adopted the submission submitted by Ms. Sudhamani.
