It is expected to bring cheers to planned employment across the state, and the Karnataka government on Friday informed the minimum wage, proposing a height of Rs 34,225.42 of Rs 319.36 per month for Rs 34,225.42.
Across the sector in District 1, the proposed monthly minimum wage for highly skilled workers is Rs 31,114.02.
The proposed hike in the draft notice of the Department of Labor increased by 70% over existing wages, including variable precious wages, while the price increase affected hundreds of thousands of households.
The notice covers two workers who are estimated to have 100 planned employment, including 18 workers added in recent years, and is based on the Supreme Court’s directive in the Rapticos Brett case.
Under the Minimum Wage Act, wage revisions are authorized for at least five years. The BJP government made a final wage revision in 2022, which was implemented between 5% and 10% in 34 planned employment.
The draft notice issued on Friday has withdrawn the 2022 notice and has proposed a new draft.
The draft has been published seeking objections and, if any, will bring together employers, employee representatives and government officials before the final notice is issued. It is expected that the entire process will take at least three months to notify the increase in wages.
Back to three areas
New notifications are restored to three regions from the existing four regional categories for wage calculations. The fourth area added in the last revision caused an exception, which in some cases reduced wages. Area 1 covers the BBMP area, Area 2 will cover the regional headquarters and other city companies, and Area 3 will cover the rest of the state. The minimum wage revision for all scheduled employment sought by the Trade Union is carried out in a single notice.
Aituc Karnataka Division Secretary M. Satyanand welcomed the notice that the Congressional government has implemented a long-term requirement to scientifically calculate the minimum wage based on the Rafticos Brett case. “This is when the labor force is under pressure during the last five to six inflation periods.”
Challenged
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Karnataka Employers Association Prabhakar, British Columbia, said they would object to the draft notice and legally challenge it later. “The proposed steep hikes have made Karnataka’s minimum wage the highest in the country, beating Delhi. This could be counterproductive and increased production costs. Some industries may move to neighboring countries where the minimum wage is much lower. Small-scale industries cannot pay high wages, which is a high wage.
For those in religious institutions
The minimum wage was extended for the first time to those who worked in religious institutions, including temples, debris, mosques, churches, Gurudvaras, Bassades, Viharas, Arya Samahj, Theological Society and Iskkon, among others. These are 18 new plans to employment that have been introduced. Others include non-teaching staff at private schools, universities and training institutions. Staff from e-commerce companies and express delivery companies are also included.
