West Bengal’s BHARATIYA JANATA Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh married his party’s Mahila Morcha leader Rinku Majumdar at a private ceremony on April 18, 2025 (April 18, 2025).
Mr. Ghosh, who served as president of the party’s state unit from 2015 to 2021, took photos with his wife before media sources and thanked him for his good wishes. Aspirations emerge not only from his own party leaders, but also cross political boundaries including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Mr. Ghosh, 60, initially PracharaRashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s K worked in various areas of West Bengal early on and then actively participated in the BJP in 2014. Mr Ghosh is considered the most successful party president in the state, and under his leadership, the party won 18 of the 42 Lok Sabha Seats in 2019.
Mr Ghosh was replaced by Mr Sukanta Majumdar as President of West Bengal BJP in 2021. In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Mr. Ghosh lost to Trinamool candidate and former BJP leader Kirti Azad for the Burdwan-Durgapur Lok Sabha athletic. The party has decided to replace him from the Midnapore Lok Sabha seat he won in 2019.
The couple met during a walk in Eco Park in Kolkata’s new town in 2021 and their friendship flourished over time. BJP leaders said he would continue his political activities after his marriage.
Several leaders of the West Bengal BJP, including party chairman Sukanta Majumder, Mangal Pandey, Sunil Bansal, Amit Malviya, Samik Bhattacharya, Locket Chatterjee and Rahul Sinha, visited Mr Ghosh’s residence and offered their wishes. The leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari, a well-known absentee, said he would not comment on personal issues.
