The simulation exercise was conducted to educate VMC staff on safety measures to prevent fire accidents

Vijayawada Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi said everyone should understand the steps to be taken to prevent fire accidents in the workplace and at home.

On the day after the Gulzar Houz fire accident killed 17 people on Sunday, May 18, the mayor stressed that people stressed the need for people and businesses to take all precautions. She also praised the selfless service of firefighters who were eager to protect the public.

According to the company’s news, the simulation exercise was conducted in the city by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Monday to educate staff about the steps to be taken, including expertise in extinguishing fires in the event of a fire accident.

Company Specialist HM Dhyanachandra stressed that the VMC recorders and staff need to understand safety measures and how to put out the fire. They are also encouraged to pass information to their families and the public.

During the simulation exercise, firefighters demonstrated how to deal with fire alarms, evacuate buildings and manage smoke-filled areas. If the lower floors are engulfed by flames and how firefighters will rescue them using ladders and ropes, the VMC staff were shown how to climb up the terrace.

Regarding the steps that can be taken at home, fire department staff recommends covering the leaked gas cylinder with a wet towel or blanket. The person said flour could be used to put out small kitchen fires and the burning oil pan could be covered with a lid to prevent the flame from spreading.

VMC staff, district officials and companies participated in the simulation exercise.
