India has been preparing to provide diplomatic answers to Pakistan following the Pahargam terrorist attacks, while strengthening its military and even preparing citizens for any possible potential emergencies. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) directed a national mock exercise on May 7 after tensions between India and Pakistan escalated. The simulation exercise is designed to simulate an emergency.

Simulation exercises in Delhi

Among state capital, Connaught's place has been tightened. In response to the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directive on the national mock exercise, the Delhi CM asserted that the national capital was fully prepared. “Delhi is fully prepared for this. In the Delhi NCR region, the simulation exercises will be held in the New Delhi region and Delhi State. However, there will be no simulation exercises in Noida and Ghaziabad, which are part of Uttar Pradesh. There will be simulation exercises in a total of 13 regions.

What happens during a simulation exercise

The national exercise, originally scheduled to be held on May 7, will be conducted in three categories at 259 locations across the country. First, on Wednesday, air strikes sirens will be heard in many parts of India. Civilian defense training will be conducted in many areas in the event of hostile attacks during the exercise.

Government sources said the union’s interior ministry has asked several states to conduct simulation exercises on May 7 for effective civil defense. They said measures to be taken include the operation of air strike warning sirens and training for civilians, students and others on civil defense to protect themselves in the event of hostile attacks.

The measures also include providing collapsed power outages, regulations for pre-camouflage of vital devices, and updates to evacuation plans and their rehearsals, sources said. Tensions between India and Pakistan followed the Pahalgam terrorist attacks, 26 people, mainly tourists, were killed. The government said the perpetrators of the terrorist attack would face severe punishment.
