Security sources believe that Chinese spies eavesdrop on British politicians by eavesdropping on White Hall’s park benches and buildings.
In increasing concerns about Beijing’s intelligence activity levels in the UK, officials who held sensitive positions in Westminster have been warned to avoid using “hot spots” in London’s SW1 area.
Among them is the historic Red Lion Bar – “Chinese Agents everywhere” – five-star hotels, including the Collins Hotel in Trafalgar Square and New Raffles in Whitehall, and St. James Park next to Downing Street, the Foreign and Treasury Department.
“We were told that Chinese people literally see the equipment of parks, bushes and park benches being leaked,” one source said.
That’s because the park is a popular gathering place for researchers and civil servants to enjoy sandwiches at lunch.
Beijing targets hundreds of people working in Westminster, including junior employees working for members of Congress.
“Researchers in the House of Commons are regarded as the soft belly of Whitehall by Chinese and other spies, including Russians and Iranians,” the source said.

Parliament has been the daily target of cyber attacks by hostile actors. Members of Congress who criticize China have experienced numerous hacking attempts and regularly provide security briefings to lawmakers for how to deal with threats.
Doctors away from Westminster, who treat British soldiers are targets for Chinese hackers to try to steal data from their patients. Some people are advised to take other precautions, including not appointing a cell phone with the patient and keeping a paper record to avoid hostile actors stealing data.
“I have a real problem with the Chinese trying to communicate,” said a doctor who has patients in the military and speaks anonymously. “We need to wake up the world until it’s so serious.
“We have so many people who want to connect with China. They need a wake-up call.
“We know China is building espionage and suppression networks in the UK,” Shadow Director Chris Philp wrote on this page.
Mr Philp added that the failure to place China at the “enhanced” level of foreign influence registration schemes means the government has lost a resource that will “help for those who take the Chinese national interest as the interests based on British land”.

It was reported that the UK and Chinese researchers shared GP records of 500,000 NHS patients.
Anonymous patient information has been uploaded to the central database of the UK Biobank, and analysis shows that one in five successful applications came from China.
It prompted MPs to warn that Beijing could harvest the information to develop biological weapons.
Last week, MOS revealed that plans for a new China “super problem” could include “spy dungeons” in the heart of London and interrogation cells.
