Finance Minister KN Balagopal said here on Tuesday (May 13, 2025) that the total tax and non-tax revenue is expected to exceed Rs 1 lakh at the end of the current finance ministry.
Total tax and non-tax revenue increased from Rs 540,000 crore in the fiscal year 2020-21 to Rs 95,000 crore in the current fiscal year. “When the Left Democratic Front (LDF) came to power, tax revenue was Rs 4.7 billion. Now, tax revenue has reached about Rs 8.1 billion,” he said in a complaint from Kalamassery Assembly voters at the opening ceremony.
He added that although this is a key source of income, the government has not raised the price of alcohol because it could lead to increased use of narcotics. He said the government ensures efficiency in various sectors, which helps overcome various obstacles.
Mr Balagopal said Kerala will be one of the most attractive working destinations in the country over the next 10 years, given the infrastructure and other development projects initiated by the government.
The minister said two pensions from the Social Security and Welfare Fund board will be released after May 20. As the government is committed to such programs, there is no return to welfare pensions for those in need.
The municipality’s waste dump was transformed into a public place through the government’s “waste-free” campaign, said P. Rajeeve, Minister of Industry and MLA, who represented the Kalamassery constituency. He added that hundreds of job opportunities have been created through the government’s “Knowledge Kerala” project.
Various complaints submitted by the public have been filed in Adalat. The minister directed the authorities to take immediate action to ensure that resident Jessy Scaria, who headed to Tog Pass Road, claimed that her neighbors restricted their vehicles from accessing nearby refurbished municipal roads by dumping waste and waste. She also presented evidence to prove her claim. More than 150 of the approximately 200 complaints received were resolved in Adalat.
