They showed Mr. Wilson the shawl and exchanged candy with him at the Secretariat of Fort St. George in Chennai.
Speaking to reporters, Wilson called the SC verdict a “landmark judgment.”
“From now on, the governor should take any action on any bill based solely on the aid and recommendations of the Chief Minister and the Cabinet,” he said, explaining various aspects of the judgment.
Mr Wilson said the verdict also clarified under what circumstances the governor could submit a bill to the president. He added that it also assigned a fixed time frame for the governor. “If the bill reaches the governor, he must act on it within 30 days. If the bill has to be transferred to the president, it must be completed within three months, which is a historic judgment.”
Asked if any petition for review was relocated, Mr Wilson said that if it appears, it would face the law
Neet Bill
In another inquiry, he said there was no connection between the Supreme Court’s decision and the NEET bill.
“With this judgment, our chief minister protects the autonomy of all states in the country. He proves that if state governors obstruct governance, democratic suffrage governments can drive the courts if they act in accordance with the constitution,” Wilson said.
Mr Wilson said the verdict said the governor should be a good friend, philosopher, guide and consultant and his behavior should not be a barrier. He said that under the bill, those nominated by the state government may become vice presidents.
