The Chief Justice of India stressed on Sunday (May 18, 2025) that neither the judiciary nor the executives belong to India, but India’s constitution is the highest and its pillars must work together.
Justice Gawai was sworn in as the 52nd CJI earlier this week, speaking at the Fernet ceremony and state lawyer meeting organized by the Bar Association of Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa.

The Chief Justice said he was pleased that the country not only strengthened, but also developed socially and economically, and continued to do so.
“Neither the judiciary, the executive and the parliament are supreme, but the highest is the Indian Constitution, and all three wings must work according to the Constitution,” he said.
He stressed that the country has a strong basic structure and that all three pillars of the Constitution are equal.
“All organs of the Constitution must be rewarded and respected each other,” he said.
A book was released during the event that recorded 50 extraordinary judgments announced by Justice Gavai.
