Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav accused Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government of abuse of Rs 22.5 crore from the state’s finance ministry to conduct political campaigns from the state’s political campaign in order to conduct rally polls in the second half of the year.

Speaking at the RJD headquarters in Patna, Mr Yadav claimed that government funds were “revoked” through initiatives like ‘Mahila Samvad’, which he called political propaganda.

On Friday (18 April 2025), Mr. Kumar launched the “Mahila Samvad” consciousness car through video conference.

During the programme, women will be provided with information on the programmes/works implemented by the Government in the field of women’s empowerment. In addition, women will have the opportunity to identify issues and aspirations in their villages or trusts and to identify their priorities. Issues received during the conversation will be quickly resolved at all levels.

Mahila Samvad is organizing in all villages in the state and will be held in about 70,000 places, with more than 2,000 women going to participate.

The work done by the government is displayed through video on large TV screens. About 600 consciousness cars have already been used for large-scale TV services.

“In a poor state like Bihar, public funds were plundered, bringing 600 digital tanks from Delhi for Rs 22.5 crore and robbing in the name of Mahila Samvad. Why is it cost a lot of money to run from the government finance ministry?” the former deputy chief minister wanted to know.

He further said: “The situation of institutional and organized loot has cost the government Rs 68.8 crore on maintaining 10 buildings. Why did the government sign a contract to private companies to clean and maintain such buildings, and why didn’t there be a direct date for this?

Opposition leaders, accompanied by former Finance Minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Yadav, claimed that in the past seven cabinets, the state government hastily approved a plan worth Rs 766,22 crore, most of which are related to architecture.

“The schemes related to the Department of Construction, Roads, Water Resources and other such departments were approved, with the Minister receiving up to 30% commissions through global tendering and contracting,” Mr Yadav said.

He added: “This corrupt government is entrusting the election fees immediately by issuing a tender and immediately commissioning the election fees in the construction-related programs in the election year.”

Mr Yadav claimed that 5,000 bridges were built in Bihar, without access to the road and were not used.

Mr Yadav explained that the Bihar government will spend 8-9% of the budget interest, paying interest on loans collected by the government for Rs 25,000 to 30,000 crore per year.

Mr Yadav said: “In the fiscal year 2025-2026, the total debt of total debt is likely to be Rs 4.6 lakh, accounting for 37 per cent of the total domestic output.”

Sanjay Jha, working chairman of Janata Dal (Manchester United) and member of Rajya Sabha, said that during the reign of Lalu-Rabri, Bihar was corrupt and in the current NDA government, action was being taken to take action against those responsible for the wrongful acts.

He asserted that Mr. Yadav should open his eyes and see carefully “how many bridges his father built in Bihar”.
