A film in India’s recent military strike in Pakistan’s Sindoor operation sparked major controversy and rebound, prompting manufacturers to apologize. The film, titled Sindoor Operation, was announced Friday night with directors Uttam Maheshwari and Nitin Kumar Gupta and producer Nicky Vicky Bhagnani film and content engineers. The manufacturer also shared a poster with a woman soldier wearing combat equipment and holding a weapon. She was seen wearing Sindoor as her hair was separated, a red vermilion worn by married Hindu women. The scene was set on the battlefield with explosions, barbed wire, military tanks and fighter jets on it.

But, hours after the announcement of the film, director Uttam Maheshwari and producer Nickky Bhagnani told their Instagram story and apologized. Their statement reads: “I am sincerely apologizing for the recent announcement of the film based on Operation Sindor, inspired by the latest efforts of our Indian Armed Forces. The purpose will never hurt or cause anybody’s emotions. As a filmmaker, I am moved by the courage, sacrifice and leadership of soldiers and leadership and for this powerful story rather than to inspire this project.

“But I understand that timing and sensitivity can cause discomfort or pain. For this, I deeply regret it. It’s not just a movie, it’s the emotion of the whole country, the social image on a global scale. Thanks to our armed forces and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for allowing us to pray with us the country and the night we always pray the same as our prayers. Their brave warriors fight at the border and give us a new morning.

India conducted a targeted strike at the terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir early Wednesday, two weeks after 26 people massacred 26 people (mainly tourists) and Pahalgam in Kashmir under Operation Sindor. Due to the military strike, Bollywood filmmakers and actors scrambled to secure the event-inspired movie records.

In just two days, more than 30 title applications (including Sindoor Action, Mission Sindoor and Sindoor: Revenge) were submitted to the industry bodies Indian Film Producers Association (IMPPA), Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) and West Indian Film Producers Association (WIFPA).
