Among opposition players in Uttar Pradesh (20 April 20, 2025), the propaganda contest against the Dalits has intensified Akhilesh Yadav, chairman of the Sama Wadi Party, claiming that the state is at its highest level in the atrocities against the Dalit communities. The SP head is promoting his PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) formula as a Dalit promotion forum for the ruling Bharatiya Janata party.

“Uttar Pradesh ranks number one in the atrocities of the Dalits. In Prayagraj, the Dalits were burned to death. Our PDA platform is a forum that connects people in all communities, especially focusing on marginalized groups. Prayagraj.

Putting up data claiming lesser representation of PDA, meaning Pichhda, Dalits and Alpsankhyak, acronym for Backwards, Dalit and Minority, in key officials’ postings in districts, he said, “total postings in Agra are 48, out of which PDA is 15, in Mainpuri out of 15 key officials, representation of PDA is three. Prayagraj will also have similar data,” he alleged, hinting in caste-based posts. Mr Yadav accused the BJP of ignoring officials from PDA social groups in key government positions.

On the other hand, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati warned the Dalit community and specifically hit the SP on the SP, saying that like Congress and the BJP, it would never be a true blessingist for the Dalits-Bahujas. BSP leaders called SP the Extreme Caste Party, recalling the infamous 1995 Lucknow Hotel incident, calling it a murder attack on itself, and describing the former SP government’s renaming of the new district and educational institutions to commemorating the educational institutions created by Dalit Icons was an act that the community could not forgive.

“Like Congress, BJP etc., SP too, far from doing any real welfare and upliftment of the Bahujans, especially the Dalits, by giving them their constitutional rights, has no sympathy for the community. The SP’s betrayal of BSP, murderous attack on its leadership on June 2, tearing the Bill on reservation in promotion in Parliament, changing the names of new districts, parks, educational and medical colleges created in honour of their (Dalit) saints, masters and great men are such blatant caste behaviors that cannot be forgiven,” she wrote on X.

She added: “While BSP has had a largely successful mission to eliminate caste system through ongoing efforts, the SP is trying various ways to undermine it to achieve its narrow political interests. People must be cautious.”

SP responded enormously to Ms Mayawati’s statement, which SP said was the state’s most powerful opposition political force, opposing atrocities committed by the Dalits and democratically raising community attention on all platforms.

“If you look at parliamentary litigation, our parties will constantly, forcefully raise the interests of Dalit and marginalized, which shows our commitment to social justice, which conveys a positive message among the various departments that are marginalized. We hold on to the promise we have made in the 2024 labor campaign, which may make our promises compete with our promises and allow domination and give whatever attitudes possible, and give North’s rule, and give North’s efforts, and give North’s efforts, and give North’s efforts. This is our promise. The interests of minorities and the discomfort of Dalits.

“The key to the Dalits”

Analysts noted that the outreach is designed to attract the appeal of the community, with the number of Uttar Pradesh being high. Dalit voters are the most critical vote in Uttar Pradesh and are key to any election outcome, and all parties are the BJP, SP, BSP and Congress are working hard to attract this critical community. But even after the 75th year of Independence, there is still no painful political party that remains an independent party, and it is still an independent community.
