WB Governor, NHRC, NCW Visits Homeless People in Malda

Kolkata/Burhampur: On Friday, Governor CV Ananda Bose ignored the request of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who visited the Jangipur violently attacked area in Murshidabad on Friday.
In the morning, Mr. Bose took the train to Malda, where he met the homeless villagers of Dhulian, Murshidabad, at a relief centre in Pallarpur High School. He will visit Mershidabad on Saturday in a troubled situation.
“I met homeless people at the camp. They are still scared and demanded permanent protection of border security forces. They want justice now. For security, peace and harmony should be maintained in those troubled areas.”
“This kind of violence and unrest will never be tolerated. Restoration of peace is on the ground,” the governor added.
CM said the day before the visit: “I urged everyone not to go to Mexidabad now. I could have gone there. If I wanted, others would have followed. This could endanger peace. Confidence-building measures are underway.”
Earlier, four members of the National Human Rights Commission also visited the relief centre. They spoke and recorded statements from homeless people. Later, the NHRC team visited the violence of Dhulian and Shamshergunj in Murshidabad.
Meanwhile, the National Women’s Commission team led by Chairman Vijaya Rahatkar also visited the relief centre. They assured justice to the homeless. Ms. Rahatkar later said: “We checked and heard their voices. We will visit the troubled areas and meet with the police and the government to ensure their safety. We will meet with the governor on Sunday and will submit detailed reports to the Centre.”
In Jangipur, many doctors open “Abhaya Clinic” in Dhulian. They handle the medication and allocate it to the affected no charges.
