Police said the body of a woman was found in a discarded suitcase in the Baguay area of Kolkata on Tuesday morning. They said the suitcase was found beside a gutter on the road near the Bajihati Police Department. “The body has been sent for autopsy. Her identity has not been determined yet,” said an officer.
He said an investigation has begun. Locals claim that they saw and future women from the area suffered physical injuries. “We suspect the body was abandoned last night,” said a resident of the area.
In February, a woman and her daughter were arrested while dumping a body in a suitcase on the bank of the Hooghly River in Kumartuli. Later, the body was found to be the daughter’s mother-in-law, whom they were allegedly murdered.
