Suspend loans to survivors of Vilangad landslide

The State Government has decided to stop all income recovery procedures to understand all loans of Kozhikode and all loans of the people who have owed the people and all loans of the people who have owed the people.

The order issued by the Chief Secretary (Revenue) on March 16 also announced a suspension of the entire tax recovery process for one year unless otherwise notified by the government.

The order comes in the context of reports that certain banks deduct from bank accounts of homeless landslide survivors after the government deposits financial aid from relief funds. More than 100 people hit multiple landslides on July 31, 2024, on the same day as Mundakkai – Chooralmala tragedy.
