Manipur: FIR for Whatapp groups, link to “spread fake news”

“Manipur Police have conducted six different FIRs on WhatsApp Group/channel (link) to spread fake and inflammatory news in the Churachandpur area and promote fear, panic and public alerts. Here, according to this warning, legal action will also be taken against other channels that are spreading fake or inflammatory news.”
The region has witnessed a series of closures and violence recently.
In a series of operations, the Army has collaborated with other security forces to collect 32 weapons, several simple equipment, a large amount of ammunition caches, including grenades from different regions and war-like shops, an official said Saturday.
A defence spokesman said the Army, Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP personnel conducted the operation during the past few days in Manipur’s eight districts – Thoubal, Bishnupur, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal, Jiribam and Senapati – comprising hill and valley regions.
Mizoram Operation
Border Security The Force and Mizoram Police seized a large number of ammunition, explosives and other items in a joint operation, from the Lugli region, which shares unbounded borders with Bangladesh and Myanmar. Three smugglers, including a woman, were arrested for seizing ammunition and explosives.
The captured ammunition includes 6,200 rounds, AK series rifles, 1,800-meter Cordex, 600-meter detonator, 20-meter safety fuse and various other equipment with the house in the Lunglei area on Saturday night.
