There is no funding for irrigation work except weed removal

Kakinada: The Andhra Pradesh government has not released funds for the irrigation project in the Godavari area under the Dowleswaram irrigation circle this summer, besides weed removal and shutter repair work.
MLA, MPs, MLC and ministers usually request funds for irrigation projects in their respective areas six months before the summer to help farmers strengthen the canal. After this is done, authorities can float the tender and complete the work before the end of summer.
This work is in the proposal phase as the government has not released funds. Officials submitted recommendations for several works, but the proposals were put aside at the highest levels without the need to release funds. The government’s proposal is being proposed with works worth nearly 15 billion rupees.
So far, the government has approved Rs 3.55 billion for 877 works, of which 316 are used for shutter replacement and dehydration and 500 are used to remove weeds from the canal. The weeding works were taken by the Water Distributor Association and the nominations of farmers with Sangheims.
According to sources, the irrigation department has identified 50 vulnerabilities in the Godavari Delta. Whenever Godavari receives floods, people and officials are controlled by fear. The fragile view is Kulla and Sundarapalli, near Kotipalli, each with 150 meters. Soil erosion is getting worse. The flood reservoir works in the work of Gannavaram, Razole and Sakhinetipalli, which requires Rs 46 crore. In West Godavari area, Doddipatla, Gangadapalli and Yalamanchili will require Rs 11 crore.
Whenever Godavari floods, the waters reach the flood reservoir, which sends a red flag. Lolla Lock, Sankaraguptam main drainage pipe and upper Kushika left bank will be on the medium drainage pipe. More and more demands have developed Kundaleswaran, where the ancient Shiva Temple is located. It is known as Varanasi in the south.
K Gopinath tells Dowleswaram Irrigation Circle SE Deccan Chronicle The government approved Rs 3.3 crore work for Rs 877 to cancel weeds and shutter replacements for the site and to build new buildings and the formation of canal roads. About Rs 11 crore is used to build residential and non-residential buildings, which have been approved by the government.
He said proposals have been proposed for the development of Lolla Locks, Sankaraguptam main drainage ditch and upper Kusica medium flow.
These works will require 400 crore Sundarapalli, 40 crore Kundaleswaram, etc. The government approved Rs 336 crore to erect the gate to the PAMPA reservoir and tender, but the initiative ended.
Contractors are said to not come forward because they fear that funds will not be released soon. The government has already had to pay contractors arrears of Rs 90 crore to pay for their recent irrigation work.
