Shekhar Kapur-Bandit Queen

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur claimed Tuesday that the streaming version of his 1994 film Bandit Queen was “unrecognized” in the film he originally directed and edited without his permission. The director, also known for films like Masoom and Mr. India, asked if Ott Platforms would do the same thing in Hollywood’s Big Christopher Nolan’s films.

“The Amazon Queen in my movie is not recognizable. He wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

The well-received robber queen revolves around the life of terrible chambal dacoit transformed into the life of Parliament member Phoolan Devi. Seema Biswas plays a titular role in the film, which caused a global sensation after its two-week partial premiere at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival.

The conversation started with Kapur’s X post, who praised the next level storytelling in the Netflix mini series for adolescence. “I’m not the first to say that, but Netflix’s adolescence redefines what a true great series can achieve. It violates the conventional 3 action structure of causality and puts you deeply into the mind of the character and makes you reflect on yourself.”

Director Sudhir Mishra commented on Kapur’s post, saying no one would have Indian film producers on shows like puberty. The Netflix series is a British crime drama centered on 13-year-old boy Jamie Miller, who was arrested for murdering his classmates. Each plot is filmed at the beginning.
