1. Waste to energy plants failure exposed to Bangalore’s lack of apartheid
On the one hand, the citizen government found it difficult to manage waste at Bidadi’s waste-to-energy (WTE) plants and could not obtain the required amount of dry waste to generate energy. The first WTE plant in Karnataka, a joint venture and BBMP of Karnataka Electric Power Company Limited (KPCL), was established in a 163-acre KPCL site.
The plant is unable to generate its full capacity of 11.5 megawatts (MW) per day due to the lack of dry waste. The plant requires 600 tons of properly isolated dry waste every day to produce 11.5 MW of electricity. KPCL officials said they receive no more than 400 metric tons of waste every day from the BBMP.
2. Karnataka students achieved 99.7% in Level 10 ICSE and 99.63% in Level 12 ISC exam
Students in Karnataka received a 99.70% pass percentage in the Level 10 ICSE exam conducted by the Indian School Certificate Examination Council (CISCE). The results were announced on April 30. The percentage of passes for grade 12 students in ISC is 99.63%.
A total of 29,745 students at 425 schools in the state wrote 10 exams, while 2,442 students from 55 schools performed the Level 12 exams. Girls in Level 10 boys (99.58% of passes, 99.82% of passes. In ISC, boys surpassed 99.65% of boys (99.61%). A total of 89 Grade 10 students and 9 students in Grade 9 failed.
3. Mysuru students propose sustainable cooking solutions to help street food suppliers
Designed by two Mysuru’s 10-level students, the sustainable cooking solution designed to help street food suppliers by reducing fuel consumption and minimizing environmental impacts, is already eligible for Ministry of Education funding to not only develop the product, but also commercialize it.
Cooking Solutions – Agnipath – Designed by Shruthakeerthi V. and Aditi V., students of Mysuru Excel Public School (EPS). It is the latest edition of the School Innovation Marathon (SIM), organized by the Alliance Ministry of Education, ATAL Innovation Mission (AIM) and Niti Ayog, comparable to nearly 100,000 entries across India.
4. The unified Karnataka Goremena Bank will be established on May 1
According to the central government’s notice under its “One State, One RRB” policy, it will be established on May 1, the unified Karnataka Gramena Bank (KGB) and its headquarters in Balari.
Dharwad-based KVGB has 629 branches in nine regions, while Ballari-based KGB has 1,122 branches in 22 regions. The newly formed Karnataka Gremena Bank will continue to own government ownership, with the central government holding 50% stake, the state government 15% and the Canara Bank (sponsored merchant bank) 35%.
5. IKEA India’s first “plan and order point” opens in Bangalore
Swedish furniture retailer IKEA opened its first plan and order point (PAOP) in Bangalore on April 30. Located on Whitefield-Hoskote Road, Essensai 067 Experience Centre, it will serve consumers in East Bangalore.
According to IKEA, the new format spans 740 square meters is a dedicated customer gathering site and offers personalized consultation, planning support and installation services, and access to IKEA’s complete home furniture range of over 7,000 products in IKEA.
