The longest train journey in India
Have you ever thought about going through India’s longest adventure? Spreading the length of the entire Indian subcontinent, from the far northeast to the southernmost tip, this excellent adventure began with Dibrugarh in Assam and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. The way to connect these two corners of India is called Vivek Express – the longest-running train in the Indian railway network.
Dibrugarh – Kanyakumari Vivek Express was delivered in the 2011-12 railway budget and was released to mark the 150th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Since then, the train has been a nationally unified image, connecting many landscapes, languages and cultures of India.
The journey took up 189 kilometers in about 75 hours, resulting in more than three days of continuous journey. It has passed 9 Indian countries: Assam, Nagaran, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The train made fifty-nine planned stops along the way, giving passengers a glimpse of the coronary arteries and souls of the Indian nation-state, towns, coasts and hills.
Vivek Express has 19 coaches, including AC and sleeper courses, to meet the needs of many passengers. It’s not a daily train – it runs twice a week, especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays in Dibrugarh. The train departed at 7:25 pm and arrived at Kanyakumari at 10:00 pm on the fourth day, after a long and lovely journey through the backbone of India.
In addition to connecting the main areas, the train also brings an unforgettable experience. Travelers witness the tranquil beauty of Assam’s lush green tea gardens, the rice fields of Bihar, the coastal extension of Andhra Pradesh, and the beauty of Thor in Kerala, a versatile experience. For railway fans and adventurers, this is an experience they don’t want to miss.
Whether you’re a traveler, pilgrim, or just someone curious about Indian Railways, Vivek Express remains a proud image of wide distances.
