Tirupati breaks out of political standoff in TTD Goshala’s cattle death

tirupati: A political standoff broke out after the death of a cattle from Goshala run by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams between the ruling coalition and the opposition YSR Congress.

The YSRC leader is led by former TTD chairman and former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, who claims the negligence of the TTD government has resulted in the deaths of more than 100 cattle in the past three months. In response, Telugu Desam leaders, including state president Palla Srinivas Rao, demanded evidence. Both sides seek inspections of Goshala.

Bhumana, accompanied by YSRC MP M gurumurthy and a large number of supporters, attempted to get to the facility. However, the police stopped the rally with security concerns.

Authorities have provided restrictions only on Bhumana and his individual staff, but he also insisted on joining others.

The deadlock has escalated. Police stopped the group, prompting Bhumana and other leaders to lie on the road to protest. YSRC leaders claim that the government is using police forces to suppress the truth. Bhumana Reddy urged the government to allow Karunakar Reddy to inspect Goshala.

In contrast, alliance leaders and MLAs including Bojjala Sudheer Reddy, K Murali Mohan, Srinivasulu Pulivarthi Nani and TTD board member Bhanu Prakash Reddy were allowed to visit Goshala with their assistants and supporters. This leads to the allegation of biased rules enforcement.

Although the TD leader then invited Bhumana to join their discussion, police agreed to allow a five-member YSRC team to enter, the larger crowd gathered at Bhumana’s residence was denied entry.

In a press conference, Bermanner claimed that police had been deploying outside his residence since the morning, and even stopped a five-person team, including Congressman Gurumurthy and former minister.

“The TTD record itself has confirmed that there have been 170 cattle deaths since June 2024. The actual number may be higher,” Bhumana said. He accused TD of wrongly claiming that YSRC was withdrawing from the challenge and reiterated his willingness to visit Goshala with the party leaders. He said that despite being in power for 11 months, the Naidu-led government has not confirmed any allegations against him or the YSRC-led.

Srikalahasti Mla Sudheer Reddy, on the other hand, slammed the YSRC, accusing it of insulting Hindu sentiment. He claimed that those who eat beef abroad are now politicizing cattle protection.
