Tight security of Thiruvananthapuram before PM access

The state capital was subjected to a strict safety blanket before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visiting committee commissioned Vizhinjam International Seaport.

Modi is expected to arrive in the city on Thursday night and spend the night in Raj Bhavan. The next day, he will take a helicopter from the fleet military camp to Helipad port to attend the inauguration ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m.

The Special Protection Team and senior officials from the City Police evaluated the security arrangements for the plan. A trial run was conducted on Wednesday. About 2,000 police officers will be stationed everywhere from Tiruwanat County International Airport to Vijinaman to Raj Bawan, official sources said. The roadblocks were erected along the roadside of the route.

Traffic restrictions and designated park-free areas will take effect from May 1 to 2 p.m. Kowdiar-Vellayambalam-Althara-edapazhinji-Pangode Military Camp – Pallimukku Route.

Vehicular movement will be restricted along Shanghaimughom-Valiyathura-Ponnara-Kallumoodu-Enchakkal-Mithrananthapuram-Sreekanteswaram Park-Thakaraparambu flyover-Chorakkattupalayam-Thampanoor flyover-Thycaud-Vazhuthacaud-Vellayambalam, Vazhuthacaud-Mettukada-Thampanoor flyover-Overbridge-East Fort-Manacaud-Kamaleswaram-Ambalathara-Thiruvallam-Vazhamuttom-Vellar-Kovalam-Pulinkudi-Mulloor-Mukkola, and Thiruvallam-Kumarinchantha-Kallumoodu-Chakka-All Saints-Shangumughom routes.
