A group of residents from Jeba Nagar from the southern bypass here under the Melapalayam district, filed a petition Tuesday with Mayor Ramakrishnan, complaining about the supply of contaminated drinking water during a weekly complaint remedy convening meeting.
Petitioners say residents of Jeba Nagar have been contaminated with contaminated drinking water for the past four months. Due to the horrible smell, it cannot be used for any home purpose or bathing. Despite several complaints against company officials, no steps have been taken to resolve the issue.
“The drinking water pipe with valves is therefore laid through a passage with household sewage. Therefore, leakage of drinking water pipes and improper closing valves cause sewage from the sewage to seep into the drinking water pipes, so residents have been contaminating drinking water for the past four months.”
Petitioners complain that most residents who bathe with this contaminated water have developed skin problems and burning sensations in their eyes for at least a few days.
A petition was submitted on behalf of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, seeking immediate inauguration at Selvi Amman Temple in Sindhupoondurai so that middle and lower middle classes could organize their family activities in this hall.
The Welfare Association, which represents residents of Thirumal Nagar, filed a petition to install street lights under Ward 54 in its area and to properly maintain two children's parks there.
“The park is full of weeds covering poisonous reptiles and the park lacks lighting due to poor maintenance. Since children visiting the park during this summer are facing serious threats from snakes, the company should immediately clean the park and fit enough lights,” said S. Pitchaiah, president of the association.
They said a year ago, a submersible motor that could be used to repair the Melapalayam district offices had not been installed in the well again in one of the parks.
Shanthi Nagar residents filed another petition in District 8. They say inferior parks have become shelter for snakes and antisocial elements after dusk. Therefore, the park should be subjected to plastic surgery by installing lights and cleaning weeds.
“A library can be created in this park,” the petitioner added.
