Tirupati uses digital slot booking for property registration

tirupati: All property registration offices in Tirupati and other Rayalaseema areas now have adopted a digital slot booking system, marking a significant shift to a structured and limited registration process. The system, introduced by the state government, aims to reduce delays and simplify operations, was fully operational throughout the region on Wednesday.

The system was initially launched as a pilot project in Vijayawada on April 4, gradually expanding to the registered office under the IV area, which covers Rayalaseema. The Tirupati Registration Office was one of the first people to implement the system during the pilot phase. With the inclusion of 15 sub-registered offices in the Tirupati District, the department has now been completed.

The slot machine booking mechanism addresses common problems faced by real estate buyers and sellers, including long queues, crowding and reliance on middlemen. By providing scheduled appointments, the system ensures a more predictable and more efficient registration process.

According to district registrar G. Sreeram Kumar, the system is operating effectively across offices. He pointed out that the transaction was completed smoothly and citizens had fewer delays. Tirupati and Gudur Registration Offices, each supported by two sub-registers, now process up to 78 registrations per day, while other offices offer 39 slots per day.

Users can access the booking system through the official IGRS website. The available time slots are marked in green and upon confirmation, a QR-encoded token is generated. Registrants must access their respective offices at the planned time and provide the token and necessary documents. If the reservation is missed, it may be rescheduled at a fee of Rs 200.

Officials say the new approach not only improves efficiency, but also increases transparency by reducing the impact of unauthorized agents. The system is expected to benefit particularly from older people and different people who have previously found that the process is physically demanding.
