Municipal Administration and Water Supply Minister KN Nehru informed Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Wednesday (April 23, 2024) that the state government will speed up measures to complete the pending work of the drinking water supply project in Palani City.

He is responding to a motion to attract attention brought by MLAS IP Senthil Kumar, VP Nagaimaali and M. Chinnadurai.

The minister said in the city of Palani that under the National Finance Council Incentive Fund for 2023-24, working at an estimated cost of Rs 1,859 crore is being carried out to install additional water purification infrastructure in the municipal government’s summer reservoir and to supply water from Fothephils for replacement reservoir supply.

As part of the drinking water program, 800 meters of drinking water pipes along the “Girivalam” path are required to be laid. However, in accordance with the requirement of Devasthanam to request alternative arrangements for pipe laying in the area, the investigation was conducted and it was decided to route the drinking water pipe along the inner drinking water pipe located outside the Girivala Veethi route.

He added that the state government will take quick steps to complete the pending work.
