Guwahati:
Internal displaced children went out for a day at a water amusement park during a relief camp in Imphal, the capital of Manipur, on Sunday (23 March 2025).
The State Department of Tourism arranged for unspecified children’s visits, and Manipur Police Housing Limited Limited provided them with refreshments and necessary assistance.
Former Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh opened in March 2024 at Theguchingjin in the Imphal East area.
He said he coordinated with government departments to provide free passes for children in the park’s relief camps and guaranteed representation to the Meitei people displaced from the Churachandpur area led by Kuki-ZO. The representative visited him at his residence the day before Yaoshang (Holi).
Mr Singh expressed his happiness in promoting a water park tour for children displaced from Churachandpur, thanking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in the Heingang Congress Constituency for their successful success.
He represents Haining’s seat.
A year ago, the Manipur government announced plans to expand the amusement park by adding hiking and toy trains. It also said measures have been taken to build nine amusement parks in other parts of the state, each with Rs 350 crore.
The shortlisted places include Churacandpur, Jiribam and Kangpokpi, three hot spots of the racial conflict that claimed more than 250 lives and left about 60,000 homeless.
