Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will hold a consultation meeting at the Secretariat on April 16, 2025 with Vice-Chancellors of all State Universities (V-CS) and registrars of all State Universities.
The official press release said the agenda of the meeting will be about improving higher education in the state.

This follows last week’s landmark Supreme Court ruling, which has been deemed to have been granted consent for the various bills re-tuned in the General Assembly and related to the president’s pending university.
The meeting was called the day after the state government notified 10 university-related acts. They are the first bill without the consent of the president or the governor. Although the Chief Minister has also held meetings with VCs of state-owned universities in the past, the upcoming meeting is of great significance given the Supreme Court’s decision.
It is worth noting that discussion and approval of the grant requirements for the higher education sector in 2025-26 will be planned at the conference on April 24.
Meanwhile, officials from the department said the notice of the conduct is expected to ensure that V-CS appointed by Governor RN Ravi complies with the government’s instructions. In some cases, some V-CS refuse to pay attention to instructions from the higher education department.
In addition, Mr. Ravi strongly advocated the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) during the meeting. “The governor praised NEP 2020 as a comprehensive, revolutionary and transformative policy. His advocacy for NEP is different from the position of the Tamil Nadu government, which constitutes its own committee to draft exclusive state education policies.”
