Opposition MPs raised a question in Lok Sabha on Thursday (27 March 2025) alleging that a large amount of hidden cash was found in the official residence of Judge Yashwant Varma of Delhi High Court, and MP MANISH TEWARI asked Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal to file a lawsuit in lok Sabha.
Mr. Tewari asked this question at zero. He said reports about the incident “disturb the conscience of all thoughtful citizens across the country.”
Congress leaders say that while it is too early to be guilty or otherwise distributed for the sake of guilt, Parliament is still charged with exercising supervision and oversight over the judiciary.

“Although the Chief Justice of India has appointed an internal investigation, I think we should respect the process and await the report. But, at the same time, the law minister should come to this House and must shift the chronological order of the events to their situation.”
He added: “No one says that anyone is innocent or guilty. No one tries to allocate the inner gui. Let the internal inquiry process play its role. However, under the articles of the Constitution and the Judges (Inquiry) Act, the Parliament has the responsibility to exercise such oversight.”
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee also raised the question, saying that irresponsible money had been recovered from the judges of the Delhi High Court.
“Why, in the case of complaint against the judge, Lockpal does not allow Lockpal to investigate? [are] He was taken to the High Court of Allahabad and Kolkata. ” said Mr. Banerjee.
Congressman R. Sudha also raised the question at zero, noting that despite reports that a week has passed since the case surfaced, no one in the government issued a statement. “There have been strange developments since then. Fire service and police report to the Union (Family) Minister. When did he know? Why did he remain silent even if the Parliament is meeting?” Ms. Sudha said.
“Why do you open the fire [Services] The chief issued a statement that no cent was recovered? Why try to save the judge? ” she added.
The cash discovery allegedly occurred after a fire broke out at the residence of the Justice of Lutson, Delhi, around 11.35 pm on March 14, prompting firefighters to arrive at the scene.
After the dispute, the Supreme Court University recommended the repatriation of Justice Varma, and the Delhi High Court withdraws work from the Delhi High Court after the Chief Justice of India filed an order to his parents, Allahabad High Court.
On March 22, the CJI formed an internal investigation of the allegations by a committee of three members and decided to upload an investigation report by Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court DK Upadhyay in the incident. These include so-called cash photos and videos.
Justice Varma condemned the allegations and said neither he nor any member of his family had deposited any cash in the storage room of his house.
