“Traitor” Jib Case: Kunal Kamra moves FIR to Mumbai HC

His plea claims that the complaint against him violates his fundamental rights to freedom of speech and freedom of speech and has the right to practice any profession, business and right to life and freedom under the Indian Constitution.
The request made by advocate Meenaz Kakalia is likely to be heard on a bench led by Justice Sarang Kotwal on April 21.
Kamra received interim expected bail from the Madras High Court in his case last month. He is a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu.
Despite three subpoenas sent to him, the comedian has not appeared before the Mumbai police to inquire.
In one show, Kamra mocked Shinde with a modified version of the Hindi song from the film Dil to Pagal Hai, but he called him “gaddar” (traitor). The comedian went on to joke about how Shinde rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray.
Following the complaint by Shiv Sena Mla Murji Patel, the police here conducted FIR registration (a statement on public mischief) and 356 (2) (Defamation) (Defamation) on Kamra under section 353(1)(b) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
