Trans woman claims she was blocked from joining popular women’s only gym

A transgender woman sparked a heated debate after she claimed she was denied access to the popular female only gym.

The woman shared a text she claimed was a staff member from Fernwood Fitness, the only gym franchise, across Australia, with the Reddit thread titled “Transgenderau” this week.

“Sorry, Fernwood’s policy does not include transgender women,” the news reads.

Fernwood only offers membership to women born of biologically identified as females. If you would like to discuss this further, please go directly to our headquarters.

Trans women seem to have been trying to join a Victoria location.

“I don’t know if this is a known question, I should have seen Fernwood, but it’s definitely a violation of Victorian discrimination laws?” she asked.

“I haven’t been out for that long, and it’s the first time discrimination has happened directly with an individual, which caught me off guard.”

The post was quickly overwhelmed by support comments.

The woman shared a screenshot of a text message (pictured) that appeared to be a Fernwood Fitness staff member.

One person said: “This is definitely a violation of Australian anti-discrimination laws.”

‘Blasted this. Name and humiliation of the gym and the people you talk to. Of course don’t give them money, but what they are doing is illegal. ”

“If your gender changes on your birth certificate, they will not be able to legally reject you. Because in Australia, trans women are legal women.

“The nuance is that they can reject trans women, but they actually need a reason for that to be legal. The third said, almost certainly, they have a written policy or a written defense for it.

Some encouraged the woman to take legal action, citing Tickle V giggling.

In this case, Roxanne, a trans woman, successfully sued women’s social media app in federal court after withdrawing her membership. The case is still appealed by Giggle CEO Sall Grover.

Australia Daily Post has contacted the lady and Fairwood Fitness for comment.
