Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced on May 14, 2025 (May 14, 2025) that it will hold a march in West Bengal from May 17 to 18 to commemorate the contribution of the Jawas and to express condolences to the families of those who died in the recent India-Pakistan conflict.

The news comes as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced plans for the “Tiranga Yatra”, celebrating the heroic spirit of the Indian armed forces in the recent cross-border conflict.

“Our party announced the rally on Saturday [May 17, 2025] and Sunday [May 18, 2025] 3pm to 5pm and wards in each block [urban areas] West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Chairman Mamata Banerjee said.

Ms. Banerjee, who provided full support to the Union Government’s Sindoor operation, said she did not see the political move of organizing the incident as a way to pay tribute to the armed forces.

“We don’t think this is a few other things politically [do]. I did not comment, nor did our party members or state governments. The Chief Minister said: “We have a duty to give our lives to the martyrs who have given their lives to our country and to the armed forces fighting for us.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the Chief Minister spoke with his family, including his wife Purnam Kumar Shaw, Border Security Force (BSF) Jawan, who was deported after Pakistan Rangers were imprisoned for 22 days. Ms Banerjee had previously expressed condolences and offered a job to Jhantu Ali Sheikh’s family, an Army Jawan, who was killed in operations Jamu and Kashmir.

BJP supporters face to face left-handed activist

Meanwhile, in the past few days, leftists have held a procession to demand an end to hostilities in the North and West Fronts, which are opposed by the BJP. Earlier this week, the entire leader of the left, including Mohammed Salim, the state secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Biman Basu, left former chairman, participated in a march against the “war”.

“A party is teaching a new lesson in patriotism! Whenever we talk about solidarity, we are under attack.” At one point, the left front supporter faced BJP radicals. Led by leaders Sajal Ghosh and Tamaghna Ghosh, BJP workers blocked the road in protest against the march of leftist radicals. Mr. Sajal Ghosh was detained by police to control the situation.
