The federal government said it would freeze more than $2.2 billion in grants and $60 million in contracts after it said it would ignore the Trump administration’s demands on campus activism. The White House said Tuesday that President Donald Trump wanted to see Harvard apologize when asked if the president is considering the possibility of deleting school tax-free status. “As I said, the president is very clear that they have to comply with federal law,” press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters. “He also wants to see Harvard apologize, which should apologize for the serious anti-Semitism that has taken place on Jewish American students on campus.”
