Two temples were damaged, 300-year-old banyan tree fell down at Narasimha Swamy Temple in Chinna Bazaar

Hyderabad: A banyan tree, said to be 300 years old, was uprooted and landed on Hanuman Temple and on the Narasimha Swamy Temple near Hussaini Alam Chinna Bazaar. No injuries.

The tree is located in the 100-year-old Narasimha Swamy Temple, which is said to be designated for two centuries. The tree damaged the top and slab parts of the temple.

“This tree is over 300 years old. Because the tree is very large and lands on the top of the temple, we can’t safely resettle it without damaging the property around the site. We have to cut it off.”

Ram Mohan added that they had to cut the trees and branches into small pieces to ensure the temple was not damaged further. He added: “Thankfully, when the temple fell, no one was near the temple.”
