U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he will announce new tariffs on semiconductors “next week” as he continues to work to impose penalties to resolve U.S. trade issues.
Responding to questions about potential tariffs on iPhones, Trump said the announcement would be coming soon, but stressed the need for “some flexibility”.
He added that some companies will have flexibility when it comes to semiconductor tariffs, although the details are not clear.
Trump reiterated that semiconductor tariffs will be implemented in the “non-distant future.”
When asked what the semiconductor ratio is, he said: “I will announce it next week.”
