Canadians are under polls for elections dominated by U.S. tariffs and high cost of living. Liberal leader Mark Carney, who served as prime minister from Justin Trudeau last month, said he was ideal for face-to-face with U.S. President Donald Trump through his experience as a central banker during the economic turmoil.When Canadians chose their prime minister, Trump once again urged Canadians to consider being the 51st state in the United States as they headed to the polls to vote in the federal election.

Trump says: “Good luck Canada”

Trump posted on Truth Social: “Wish the great people of Canada good luck.” “Election of a powerful and wise man, cut taxes in half, raise your military power to the highest level in the world, own your cars, steel, aluminum, wood, energy and all other businesses if Canada becomes the precious 51st of the United States.

“Many years ago, there were no more lines drawn by humans. Look at the beauty of this land. Free passage without boundaries.” All certainly had no negative impact. It should have been! The United States will no longer be able to subsidize Canada, and we used to spend hundreds of billions of dollars. Unless Canada is a state, it doesn’t make sense! ”

Trump’s comments are amid the polls of Canada and the U.S. sovereignty, which has been a key issue during the campaign. Party leaders describe the election itself as the most critical election in a generation due to threats from the U.S. president.
Driven by Donald Trump’s active tariff policy, Canada’s election campaign was dominated by a deteriorating U.S.-Canadian relations and repeatedly commented that Canada could become the 51st state.
Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party has lagged behind Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party for much of the past year, and it has taken a huge stance after it focuses on opposing Trump’s treatment of Canada. According to Polymarket, Carney has more than 80% of the prime minister after Monday’s election.

The performance of two smaller parties – the left-wing New Democrats (NDP) and the separatist group Quebecs – may be decisive as both sides had strong performances in past votes that curb liberal seats.

Of Canada’s 41 million people, nearly 29 million are eligible to vote, in the vast G7 spanning six time zones. A record 7.3 million people made high-level votes.

Canadians will elect 343 members of parliament, meaning the majority will need 172 seats. The Liberal Party won a majority in 2015 but has been in the minority rule since 2019.
