As part of the official “Telangana Rising” delegation, the team took the bullet train from Shin-Osaka to Kitakyushu, one of the most advanced cities in the world, engaged in recycling, sustainable urban policies, and models of environmental transformation. It said that once was one of the most polluted cities, Kitakyushu is now the cleanest city.
Kitakyushu Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi expressed his enthusiasm for working with Hyderabad and Telangana, a promising support from the Kitakyushu government and its companies in sharing knowledge, processes, technology and experience to help the state achieve outstanding development in environmental engineering and restoration.
Revanth Reddy said we are pleased that we will work together to build an eco-town in Hyderabad.
The two sides also discussed the granting of sister city status to Kitakyushu and Hyderabad.
The Japanese demanded direct flights between the two cities, while Reddy proposed a Japanese language school in Hyderabad. Kitakyushu, located on Kyushu Island, Japan, is famous for its transformation of the Murasaki River, a heavily polluted waterway leading to one of the cleanest waterways and has significant riverside development. The Kitakyushu Municipal Government will conduct a research tour of the Chief Minister and his delegation, including IT and Industry Minister D Sridhar Babu, and senior officials to demonstrate the river restoration project.
The release added that the delegation also went through a guided riverside walk and visited industrial recycling facilities to gain insights into global technologies and best practices in the circular economy.
The circular economy is designed to eliminate waste and use resources for as long as possible.
