TTD Mulls AI conducts pilgrimage management with Google Inc.

tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is working with Google Inc. to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into its pilgrimage management system. If implemented, it would become the first Hindu temple trust in the world to deploy AI-powered solutions on such a large scale, greatly enhancing the experience of millions of devotees visiting the Venkateswara hills.
The initiative was discussed at a TTD board meeting in Tirumala on Monday. Chairman Br Naidu, Executive Officer J. Syamala Rao and other EO CHs. Venkaiah Chowdary confirmed that talks with Google are underway. AI technology is expected to simplify crowd management, optimize queue systems and improve service efficiency, especially for Sarva Darshan.
TTD officials stressed that AI-driven analytics will help predict peak hours of pilgrimage hours, allowing for real-time monitoring of pilgrim influx, enhancing resource allocation and improving Darshan programs. It will also help with accommodation management, enhance security and surveillance. “TTD has been at the forefront of leveraging technology in terms of leveraging technology convenience, and AI integration will be the game-changer. By using AI-driven analytics and automation, we aim to reduce waiting time and enhance service delivery.”
Meanwhile, the board is determined to reclaim the 36 acres of land previously allocated to the Mumtaz Hotels and Devlok projects on Alipiri-Cherlopalli Road. In addition, 15 acres of land from the AP Tourism Department will be retrieved and 20 acres of land will be allocated for the Science City project near Alipiri. To facilitate this, TTD will provide 50 acres of land for the Ministry of Tourism. The decision is consistent with the directive of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, which revokes the private land allocation near Alipiri to preserve the sanctity of Seshachalam Hills.
In a key decision, the board approved the resumption of the VIP interrupt Darshan slot to early morning in response to the devotee’s repeated request. It also approved the merger of Srivani Trust, which is about Rs 14 billion, to become a new entity dedicated to the construction and restoration of temples in India and abroad.
Discussions on increasing wages and improving medical benefits for POTU workers were also discussed. The board approved financial assistance for the temple reconstruction project at multiple locations and decided to cancel donation passes issued to past suppliers of organic products. Measures will be taken to identify and delete unauthorized stores of Tirumala. In addition, the Board is determined to form a new Agama Advisory Committee to oversee temple rituals and religious guidelines.
