Peace Group Addresses Social Boycott in Pithapuram

Kakinada: Kakinada collector S. Shan Mohan said the issue of social boycott in Pithapuram Mandal Mallam Village was addressed by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, through the establishment of the Peace Commission.

The problem caused a tremor in the village after the death of a Suresh Babu, who was recently electrocuted while working on an electric work at a Jallibabu home. The incident prompted a part of the community to protest, demanding compensation for the families of the deceased. The elders of both groups then decided to offer Rs 2.75 lakh to the victim’s family. Meanwhile, a group of people belonging to the deceased filed a complaint with the Pithapuram rural police, claiming that some of them socially resisted them and that they were denied access to hotels and job opportunities in the village. By contrast, the opposition denied the allegations and dismissed false cases against them.

To address this, Kakinada collectors say a peace committee consists of six members in each group. After the discussion, the committee passed a resolution on Monday that a part of social boycott should be removed and legal action should be taken against those who spread false statements. It emphasizes the importance of fostering brotherhood among all villagers.
