A statement said the visit by U.S. National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard to India highlighted decades of U.S.-India relations, strengthened by friendships between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump.

Ms. Gabbard was her first multinational trip, and DNI visited Hawaii, Japan, Thailand, India and France.

“Born and raised in the Indo-Pacific region, DNI Gabbard offers a nuanced understanding of the region’s key partnerships and complex challenges as she explores opportunities to promote President Trump’s first policy in the Indo-Pacific president,” the DNI statement said Thursday (March 20, 2025).

“This visit highlights decades of U.S.-India relations, supported by leadership and friendship between Prime Minister Modi and President Donald Trump,” the statement said.

“Ms. Gabbard’s meeting in India focused on intelligence sharing, defense, counter-terrorism and transnational threats,” it said.

Ms. Gabbard also joined the Raisina dialogue, where she delivered a keynote speech on collective efforts to promote Mr. Trump’s goal of a peaceful, free, secure and prosperous society, the statement said.

Ensuring peace through strength requires strong leadership through clear and realistic understanding of global challenges and opportunities, committed to promoting cultural and economic ties to reduce the possibility of escalating conflict and to strengthen the dedication of the common good,” Ms Gabbad said.
