Turkish student detained in the US for pro-Palestine stance issued – Economic Times video
A Tufts University student from Turkey was released on Friday (May 9) at an immigration detention center in Louisiana for more than six weeks. Rumeysa Ozturk was detained after co-wrote a comment criticizing the school’s response to Israel’s war in Gaza. U.S. District Judge William Sessions ordered the immediate release of Ozturk at a hearing in Burlington, Virginia. Ozturk was arrested on March 25 in a street in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts near her home, plainclothes law enforcement officers.
