The Madhya Pradesh High Court paid tribute to the state government on Thursday (March 27, 2025) after it promised it could incinerate remaining carbide waste in a private facility in Pithampur.

The nod of Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Vivek Jain’s court was filed with the affidavit from state authorities, which reported that 30 tons of waste were incinerated based on three trials conducted in the past month.

The state government said the three trials were successful, and under the supervision of CPCB and MPPCB, the remaining 300 tons of waste can be disposed of at a feed rate of 270 kg per hour, and the entire process can be completed within 72 days.

The three trials were conducted on February 28, March 4 and March 10 at different combustion rates of 135 kg/h, 180 kg/h and 270 kg/h, and officials from various departments monitored the impact of the process on the local environment of Pithampur.

Of the 350 tons of waste transported from the resolved joint carbide plant in Bhopal to the Piser ampur industrial area in the Dahl region, 328 tons of toxic waste are still pending.
