Police said Saturday that two people were killed and two others were injured after JCB excavators hit the canyon near the canyon. The injured persons – Charanjeet Singh (26) from Punjab and Neeraj Kumar (20) from Bihar – are being treated at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, police said.
The accident occurred on Friday near the temple of Jwala Mata when Sukhdev lost control of the excavator that slid into the canyon. All four occupants of the excavator were taken to IGMC and doctors declared Sukhdev and Hari Nam dead, police said. Shimla SSP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the death toll and said police launched an investigation after registering the case.
