U.S. approves $131 million in military sales to improve India's maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region

Washington, DC: The United States has approved $131 million in foreign military sales to India, aiming to improve maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on Wednesday that the deal includes advanced altitude software, training and support services to enhance awareness in India's maritime sector and strengthen strategic links between the two countries.

The U.S. State Department shared a post on X, “The state department authorized India to purchase foreign military sales (FMS) cases to purchase Indo-Pacific maritime domain name software and related equipment, with an estimated cost of $131 million.”

“The State Department has determined that it will be approved by the State Department to allow foreign military sales to sell awareness and related equipment in India's Indo-Pacific maritime sector to India, with an estimated cost of $131 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency provides the required certification and notifies Congress of possible sales today.”

It added: “The Government of India has requested the purchase of Seavision software (including requested software enhancements); Technical Assistance Field Team (TAFT) training; remote software and analytical support; access to Seavision documents; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is USD 131 million.”

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency further stated that the proposed sales will continue to be an important force in political stability, peace, peace, peace and economic progress by helping strengthen the foreign policy and national security goals of the US-India strategic relationship and improving the security of major defense partners.

“The proposed sale will improve India's capability to meet current and future threats by bolstering its maritime domain awareness, analytical capabilities, and strategic posture. India will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractor will be Hawkeye 360​​, located in Herndon, VA,” it added.
