UIDAI successfully conducted the NEET exam facing the face authentication pilot

Hyderabad: The only identity authorization agency in India (UIDAI) successfully conducted a proof of concept (POC) on the use of facial identity verification during the National Qualification and Admission Examination (NEET UG) held in New Delhi.
According to Electronics and IT, the program is implemented in partnership with the National Center for Information Sciences (NIC) and the National Testing Agency (NTA), marking an important step in improving the safety of exams and candidate verification processes through Electronics and IT using advanced biometric technologies.
The POC aims to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of Aadhaar-based facial identity verification to verify the identity of candidates emerging in one of India’s largest entrance exams.
During the POC, Aadhaar Face authentication technology was deployed in a specific NEET hub in Delhi and seamlessly integrated with NIC's digital infrastructure and NTA's inspection protocol.
Facial authentication is performed in real time using Aadhaar's biometric database, making the process contactless and more simplified. The results of POC show high candidate verification accuracy and efficiency.
The program also demonstrates the potential of Aadhaar Face authentication as a secure, scalable and student-friendly solution for authentication on large-scale exams. It also shows the potential of its future use cases and how it can play a role in significantly curbing imitation attempts during the entrance exam. The collaborative effort reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging digital innovation to increase transparency and security in public services.
