Ukraine, Russia exchanges prisoners of war, other prisoners involving more than 500 people

Ukraine and Russia conducted more than 500 prisoners of war swaps on Saturday, the latest in a series of exchanges since Russia launched its full-scale invasion three years ago.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in an article on the Telegram Message app that 277 Ukrainian service personnel have returned home from Russian captivity.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said Kyiv has handed over 246 soldiers. It said another 31 injured prisoners of war were handed over to Ukraine, and Kiev also returned 15 of its own wounded soldiers.
All Russian soldiers are now in Belarus, Moscow’s close allies in the war, waiting for the transfer to go home.

Video footage released by Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets shows Ukrainian soldiers gathered for a while, many people wrapped in blue and yellow flags of several buses on wooden blue and yellow flags.


Then they saw these people sitting on the edge of the apron, shouting patriotic slogans. The location of the party was not disclosed. Zelenskiy said there were a total of 4,552 Ukrainians – service workers and civilians since the Russian invasion in February 2022. Both sides thank the United Arab Emirates for their help arrangement of the exchange.
