This year, Mahavir Jayanti will celebrate on Thursday, April 10. Banks will be closed on April 10, so those planning to visit banks are advised to plan their banking activities accordingly.

According to the holiday list of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in this year’s specific cities alone, banks will close Mahavir Jayanti/Mahavir Janma Kalyanak on April 10 on April 10. It includes Aizawl, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Chennai, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kolkata, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbnow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Raipur and Ranch.

Banks will remain open in the following cities: Andhra Pradesh, Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Jammu, Kochi, Kohima, Panaji, Patna, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Telangana and Thiruvananthapuram.
However, regardless of bank holidays, basic banking services will still be available through ATMs, mobile banking apps and online banking platforms.
Banks will be closed for 15 days in April 2025 due to public holidays, including the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays. Customers are encouraged to understand these holidays to prevent banking services from being interrupted.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) classifies bank holidays into three categories: Real-time sum settlement (RTGS) holidays and bank account deadlines under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Customers can find information about bank holidays through the RBI’s official website and notify the bank.
